Poikiloderma

Poikiloderma is a skin condition that consists of areas of hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, telangiectasias and atrophy. Poikiloderma is most frequently seen on the chest or the neck, characterised by red coloured pigment on the skin that is commonly associated with sun damage.
Treatment will feel like a quick flash of light on the skin. The after effects should be a darkening or brightening of the redness of the treated skin and a sensation of sunburn. Heat will be released in the process and it is important to try and cool the area down post treatment. Topical cooling lotions like aloe vera or ice packs can help with this and Follow up treatments and occur once the skin has calmed down after 7 - 14 days.
